STRAITS TIMES INDEX - IMPROVEMENT FROM 1ST QUARTER

This week has been a turnabout week for the Straits Times Index given the remarkable rally seen in Global Stock Market rally. Dow Jones chart below show that the index is trying very hard to break above the 18k level. On Thursday, the STI gapping up 88 points in the opening, a level never seen in more than 10years. The Singapore market has been making good improvement from its closing in the 1st Quarter 2016, rising 1%. With the BREXIT benefiting ASIA equities especially Singapore, we seen a in-flow in funds coming in.

Recently, the market interest-rate expectation has shifted towards early 2017 given the BREXIT volatility. This will benefit high dividend yield(%) stocks with strong ASSET Quality. Next week the theme should be MID-CAP uptrending stocks, discount to Net Asset Values(RNAV). It easier to ride the up trending high-go-higher counters than those down trending low-go-lower counters.
